Exporting Video for VidSF.com
General Guide
- We prefer video in a 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratio.
- We suggest H264 video with stereo audio. Total video file compression around 1,500-2,000 Kbps (kilobits per second), about 100 MB (megabytes) total file size. You don't want to wait around that long for an upload anyway.
Exporting from Final Cut Pro for Mac OS X (Standard Def)
Make sure the sequence you want to export is currently in the timeline window (bottom half of the screen) and is selected in the browser bin (upper left).
- Click File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion...
-
Name the file.
- Format should be "QuickTime Movie"
- Under the "Use:" switch, select "LAN/Intranet" as the "Use" setting
- Click on "Options"
- Click on the "Settings..." button. Under the "Compressor" heading, check "Faster encode (Single-pass)" if you have a slow, older computer. Click OK.
- Click the "Size" button under the "Video" heading.
- Most of our videos are now widescreen (16:9). For these widescreen videos choose a custom size: 768x432. If your video is in the old-style (4:3) use 640x480.
- Check the "Deinterlace Source Video" option. Click OK.
- "Save" in the original save dialog.
Final Cut will start encoding your file. This can take a while, depending on the speed of your computer.
