VidSF Style Guide
We're going with AP Style.
Headline
- Capitalize the principal words, including prepositions and conjunctions of four or more letters.
- Capitalize an article--the, a, an--or words of fewer than four letters if it is the first or last word in a title.
Summary/Subhead/Dek
- A single sentence that summarizes the video.
- Punctuate and capitalize like a normal sentence.
The title and summary should provide the audience with a comprehensive idea of the video’s content.
Lower Third
- Used while editing your video in your favorite non-linear editor, such as FinalCutPro.
- Our lower third is very simple. It's a simple gray Helvetica with no logos and a 50% shader.
- Photoshop VidSF Lower Third Templates are available on our public dropbox. Contact us to get added to the dropbox.
- The easiest way to use the template is to edit the text with Photoshop, export as a 24 bit PNG and import into your FinalCutPro timeline. The PNG format does a good job preserving transparency.
Long Format Text
- Include credits of host, videographer, editor, etc.
- Link to outside sources or additional resources.
Tags
- Do not include "SF" or "San Francisco" as this is redundant, non-specific and will result in odd related videos matches. DO include other city / region names (Berkeley, East Bay, etc.)
